Re: R DRL's on a non-R bumper?

I had some "R" style LED DRLs on my non-R for ages, the link you posted looks fine [emoji1360] just double triple check the shape, don't buy actual R lights! Mine were plug and play and swapped in 10 mins.

Re: Rear Spacers - 12mm or 15mm?

I had 15mm spacers all round on 19" Luganos, sits fine especially at stock ride height and you won't have any trouble lowering it. You could actually go wider than 15mm, but in my opinion if it's between 12 and 15, go for 15 [emoji1360]

Re: Free Data Plug - Limited offer from VW

Sounds good on the surface but i bet they're monitoring everything on your car and what youre doing. Speed, acceleration, driving style, etc etc. I wouldn't have any sort of box/monitoring hardware fitted to mine anyway!

Re: Clay bar - orange specks

What clay bar & clay lube are you using? Ones from eBay, "3M" ones or cheapos are absolutely a waste of time. Make sure you're using a branded clay bar such as AutoFinesse if you aren't already, then i'd try some tar remover such as AutoGlym's Tar Remover liquid, works absolute wonders...

Re: Does the rns 310 display phone book menu on the mfd

Yes phone button should do that but the button with microphone on it is for voice dialing (PTT) push to talk. If it's not coded it just mutes the radio Always wondered why mine doesn't have PTT.. its a 2013(62) R-Line, and all my microphone button does it mute. Raised it with VW a few times but the...

Craig

Thanks for the update. Good to see someone dedicated on resolving the problems on what sounds like a troubled car, the coding and electronics is always a nightmare.

Hopefully you will have it sorted and then can enjoy this beast and all of the rest of the great work that's been done to it!

Re: Does the rns 310 display phone book menu on the mfd

I have an RNS315 in mine and from the MFD I can open my phone book, scroll through them all and choose one to call. If you press the phone button on your steering wheel, it will take you to that menu then just press up/down to go further into the phone menu. Obviously make sure your phone is connect...

Just curious though, would the wires be able to be hidden? I can see these on eBay for £75 (seems expensive) but the pictures arent clear enough...

Nice! Anything to particularly watch out for when removing certain bits of trim?

This is my next little project, I've got a roll of Brushed Aluminium style vinyl in the post (I also have some trim removal tools already).
