occasional flappy paddle problem

Post by RickGT »

Good evening guys and gals

The car seems to have developed an issue with the "up" paddle when in D and using the paddles sometimes the gearbox doesn't want to change up it will change down absolutely fine and then it will start working again using the +/- on the gearstick itself also works without a problem has anybody come across the same problem could it just be a loose wire or something more sinister ??

I would guess it will be some kind of electrical contact issue, the fact that it works fine using the gear lever itself rules out a problem with the box itself. Is the problem prevalent across the range, or is it worse in lower/higher gears? It may not always work on the up shift though. Depending on engine revs/road speed etc. you may not be able to upshift if the software does not deem it appropriate. ie. trying to go into too high gear too slowly.

If you reckon it is a fault, I would suggest mentioning it to the dealer, but does sound like a electrical issue.
