Meg's NXT tech wax as a sealant before Mirror glaze

Post by 3t3p »

I already have the spray version of NXT tech wax, not the newer 2.0 stuff.

From reading around the 'wax' name is partly a consumer level misnomer (for easy pickings off over-crowded shelves) as in reality it is technically a sealant.

Now I have some time off coming up and time therefore for a much needed thorough detail of the roc.

My plan is to:

Snow foam the car and wash with Chemical guys citrus at high conc to remove any old wax

Clay bar the car

Seal with the NXT tech wax I have and leave it a few hrs

Wax with my Meg's #16 mirror glaze which I love

What do you all think to my plan?
Is there any major difference to NXT and 2.0 variants?
Can carnuba based waxes be put on top of synthetic sealants?
Will it make a blind bit of difference?
Does claying alone remove old wax layers?

This is my most hardcore detail yet so go easy on me, just getting into the hobby:)

I thought glazes are supposed to remove old wax?

anyway, i would approach it like this;

1.Snow foam

2.I-rox those metal spots and tar remover for tar spots.

3. when the metal is free of those 2 types of spots, i would use a non-abrasive cleaner to remove old wax.

4. with panel now 'naked', i would use a sealant. I have read that those nano-sealants don;t need wax on top?

4. if i use standard sealant, then wax on top but again optional. That wax from Rubbish boy seems interesting. i have used the Dodo Juice daimond white on the front wings only from a sample pot, as i drive a CW. i am experimenting and noticed the front wings are less 'florescent white', and more 'full fat milk white'.

finally, pray for rain in 48 hrs so that i can see the water beading property under the force of nature.
