Well, having taken receipt of my new Roc a few weeks ago (and having done just over 1000 miles) I promptly crashed it into a big fat deer that jumped out in front of me. There are loads of them around where I live, so I keep an eye out for them. However, I was driving to work the other morning when all of a sudden I had an oversize Bambi jump out at me and savage the front of my car.
The result of that encounter is a smashed front grill and cracked / dislodged bumper. The other half of the bumper is now "furry".
There doesn't seem to be any damage to the radiator etc, but I won't know until the garage take the front off next week.
I should have strapped it onto my roof and taken it home - at least I would have had some venison burgers for the barbie..!!!

Re: Stupid Deer
Sorry to hear that, near me there are such hazards too!
Just of interest how did the deer fair in all of this?

The OP finishes by saying he should have taken it home - I presume not to offer it a nice cup of coffee and a sit down, but rather to skin it and eat it.

I find pheasants are my nemesis i've hit a few of them and they made quite a mess so a deer i imagine would make a bit more of a mess. Furry woodland creatures are a pain in the arse and they dont have insurance.
If you see S9 CTC driving around give us a wave I do 40,000 miles a year it gets lonely out there

Sadly the deer in question was like the Monty Python parrot. Incidentally, did you know that it's illegal for you to pick up your own roadkill, but it's ok for the bloke in the car behind you to collect it?

Re: Stupid Deer
In the avatar pictured Elise I managed to hit a badger and a hare... given that the front of that car was around 80mm off the ground and the entire body made of Glassfibre Reinforced Plastic you can imagine the damage that caused. In fact when I sold the car i was cleaning it all up, took off the flat undertray and there were bits of badger all down the length of the car - lovely!
Dread to think what would have happened if i'd hit a deer in it - probably driven under it I suppose!?

Re: Stupid Deer
A deer would have probably ended up sat in your passenger seat. I'll check my email - a friend of mine in the US hit a 'Turkey' (they call 'em turkeys, I don't think we do) and the damn thing went through the screen and then exploded against the inside of the rear window of his station wagon. The photos were horrible...
