speedometer in kph?

Post by tildesley »

hi all

got my rising blue today, love it :)

noticed when driving it, that the bottom of the midline is giving a kph instead of a mph?!?!?
anyone got any idea of how to fix this and turn it to mph? im on a non multi-function wheel, if that helps

(will try and upload some piccies later when the weather is a bit nicer)

Not sure you can - I believe it's like that because the speedo doesn't show kph, thus you need kph showing down there if you're driving on the continent. Only fix, I guess, might be through vagcom - but don't go on the continent if you do that!

Hi JT

you will notice that on your speedo there is no indication of kph only mph, the kph reading on the mfd is for safety reasons. If you take your car on holiday to the continent you will not know what speed you are going in kph so no you can't change it

They must have changed the graphics on the dials cos my '09 definitely has kph markings on the speedo dial.

I'll just confirm that on kph cars, the "display alternative speed" (or whatever the MFD option is) it's in mph, and as stated above there's no changing it.

makes sense i suppose, i have many things to learn, like how not to panic when pulling off because the world comes at me slightly faster than it did in a 10yr old 1.2 corsa

What I don't like, and this may just be my misunderstanding. But when you have the Nav on and it has the little Directions on the MFD, you can switch to view - for example how many miles left in the tank. My focus could do that, as it has (Where the digital KPH is) the switchable section, which allowed you to cycle through the various options...

My RCD allows me to cycle through different options to display there. I had it on Average Consumption for a while but it was making me drive too slowly. :p

hmmm. I assume by cycle you mean you just used the rocker switch? I notice yours are both GT's with, I am guessing the Steering controls etc. Mines a non GT - so maybe that has something to do with it.

Oh well will see when I get my GT on Wednesday! :)
