My crazy insurance company!

Post by jc74 »

I was looking at whether it's worth getting my Scirocco chipped up to ~260bhp, but my insurance company (bell/admiral) simply don't want to know! They do want to know and charge for the privilege to cancel though :grumpy:
They've got me on £500 per year, but simply will not quote at all for a chipped one!
Odd thing is, they quoted me £1100 for an Audi R8 (414bhp). :? :? :?

I'll just have to wait until March and find a more sensible insurance company!

I'm with Admiral too. Not got my Scirocco yet but have got quite good quotes from them for it.

i was contemplating getting that VW official remap next year sometime so it looks like i may need to find a new insurance company!

the call centre folk at bell aren't the most savy either, bell would insure the map but wanted to rob me blind so i went to chris knott, bell also covered the map on our gti (300bhp) but we've just had the renewal on that and i have a feeling we will be going chris knott on that one (no post code lottery like some of the others)

I'd also recommend giving Greenlight a try - they've given me an excellent quote with a number of mods included, better even than the Chriss Knott quote which itself was very good.

Think he means the one that you can get from selected dealers for the Golf GTi and the Roc GT.
