I'm in dilema right now. Mechanic told me a year ago that it would be a good idea to replace oil pump shaft as they're main reasons for 2.0 TDI engines (around year 2009) to die, because it's hexagonal and when it turns, oil pressure drops and it's too late.
I do most of the maintenance and repairs myself as I've driven car to mechanic 2 times and whatever they "fixed", oil started to leak out, took it back 2 more times and nothing better, anyways.... I went to the store, gave them VIN and we checked together on some website that they have, exploded diagram of engine. The seller told me that he doesn't see shaft but as he can see, the car has chain and gear version of oil pump mechanism (which is obviously better). But now I don't know which one is correct one, do I have a shaft or do I have a gear? I really don't wanna open up oil pan just to find out that there is gear. And when it's opened up, I need to go buy the hex shaft, which they don't have in stock, and so on... U know where this goes. I'm without a car for a week and I use it everyday.
Does anyone know if 2.0 TDI VW Scirocco (engine code CBDB) have hex shaft or gear? Does anyone have access to some paid software to see what exactly is under oil pan? Even better, if it's really hex, can I get OEM part number?
If I open it up and it's gear, I sadly have unecesery expenses then as I have to buy the gasket sealent, which does not seem to be cheap around here (at least not a quality one) - that's another one that the car parts dealer said, that there is no pre-made gasket for this car, just gasket sealent and DIY.
Thank you all
