RCD330 Plus connection questions

Post by Inkey$ »

About to pull the trigger on an RCD330 Plus to replace the RSN510 nav unit in my 2009.

I've seen various online notes regarding the need to add a quadlock adaptor for the steering wheel buttons to work.
Also, because my car is 2009 there's potentially an issue with battery drain and I may need to upgrade the CAN bus?

Is there a way to find out definitively if this is the case or not before I buy the unit? Are 2009 cars prone to these issues with RCD330 Plus installs?

As far as I'm aware, the battery drain issue requiring an updated CanBus Gateway only affects VAG models prior to 2007. Based on that I'm pretty sure you won't have an battery drain issue plus if your car was affected the RNS510 would already be causing an issue as that's one of the units that causes battery drain on pre 2007 Golfs.
