18 inch wheels

Post by dav4008 »

Hi All

Im new here, just test drove a 2015 Scirocco 1.4GT, Liked everything about the car except the tyre noise, It seemed to be a monotonous roar coming from the rear tyres, When I got back from the test drive I explained that due to the noise I was no longer interested in that car. Does the lower grades have smaller wheels and if so whats your experiences with 17 inch versus 18 inch, do they fit 16 inch to the base spec? Thanks for your replies. :D

You will probably find that a new set of rear tyres would fix the problem.

Sadly, the Scirocco, like all VAG cars based on this platform can suffer from treadstepping / sawtooth wear on the rear tyres, giving rise to a drone / rumbling noise. Also some tyres are more prone to it that others,

If you do a search on this forum as well as other VAG forums you'll find a lot written about the subjuct.

To answer your original question, some models did come with 17" wheels.
