Hi all,
This week I am upgrading to the RCD330+, so I have no use for the MDI in the armrest or the AUX input on the centre console.
I’ve decided to get a storage cubby to go in place of where the MDI input is, but I’d rather avoid one of those blanks which just cover the hole where the aux input was.
My question is could I use the wiring for the MDI system to hard wire a USB charger in its place? I know this wouldn’t connect to the new head unit but it would be very handy to have an extra charging port and would look much better than another blank. Is this possible? Has anybody else done it?
If I could find a cable which plugs into the old MDI wiring and then into one of those female USB ports you can get for the blank switches above the gear shifter that would be perfect but does such a thing exist?
Car is a 2009 Rocco GT TSI 2.0 for reference.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
