Bluetooth module, RNS510 and red mfd

Post by OllieW »

Hi all
Hoping someone can help! Recently bought an 09 scirocco 2l tsi and love it apart from the lack of Bluetooth. It came with an RCD 510 which I’ve swapped for the RNS510 so I can get nav. Today my Bluetooth module 1k8 035 730 D and wiring harness were fitted but when I press the phone button it still just mutes whatever is playing. Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Thanks in advance
Ollie

Has the module been coded in? The Canbus Gateway will need coded to know the module is there'll.

When you have the OEM BT module, you have a phone menu on the MFD. The phone menu appears when you press the "phone" button or you can scroll using left and right using the MFSW buttons.

The car comes up as "VW Phone" which you should see when searching from your phone and you then pair with it. From the menu the car can also search for the phone and pair that way too.

I would have expected you would also have needed to code in the RNS510 so that sat nav directions appear on the MFD.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I have the nav just on the rns screen at the moment with the mfd just showing which direction I’m facing N/W/S/E etc. so I’ll get it coded so it’s all functioning. Looking at the loom again I’m not sure I’ve actually fitted it right :grumpy: there was one end of the loom that didn’t seem to have a home then on the other side the mic goes into one of them I assume. I can’t upload any pictures, does this make sense to anyone?
Cheers

There is something in the back of my mind regarding the mic wiring as the RNS510 supports "voice commands". If you do a search on this and other VAG forums you should be able to find more detail.

A quick search came up with this thread, which may help if you haven't seen it already;

Hi OllieW,
I have just bought a similar car to yours and want to add bluetooth, I think 1k8-035-730-D is the module I need so I jsut wanted to find out if you got yours working in the end?
Cheers
