My Rocco got the shakes!

Post by TripsD »

Hello!

So... the problem is that my Rocco shakes... it's not an even shake, its not in the steering wheel, it's the car.
at some speeds i don't notice it, but it usually shakes, not much, but enough to feel your fat jumping...
AND when the car is idle it get's an occasionally shake, i heard it might be a motor mount??
newly had a service, changed all service parts, did not help...

The car: 1.6 tsi 2008/2009 mod, with changed engine because, you know...
Is there some car gurus out there? please help :D

If you got any questions i will try to answer. :D

I was going to suggest getting your wheels re-balanced if it only happens whilst moving, but then you mention its the engine, so not sure now

When you are moving then, does the shake change with road speed or engine revs, or both

Easy way to check, next time it starts to shake at whatever road speed, dip the clutch and rev the engine to see if the shake gets better or worse or no different, that should help pinpoint where the problem lies

Well, i tested what you said, with the engine... There was no difference...

I have already re- balanced the wheels, and it's the same with winter and summer tires...

Maybe it's the dual mass flywheel or engine mounts indeed. Can't you watch under the hood to detect it?

So does the shake change with road speed or engine revs as that will help pinpoint where the problem is coming from

it changes a bit from roadspeed, but not when the engine revs...
