Buying advice needed

Post by lefzz »

Hello guys, sorry in advance for my bad english (im not a native speaker)
Im new to the whole VW world and just recently fell (hard!) in love with the scirocco, and i instantly decided to buy one (ive been looking for a new car anyways)

BUT, im gonna need some advice in what to buy, im looking at buying the 160bhp 1.4tsi engine, but as i understand theres been quite alot of issues with this engine?

Currently im looking at 2 used ones around the same price range.

One is a 2009 model with the old steering wheel and red info display, cheap looking cd-player (rcd310?), white color, lowered with h&r kit, three sets of rims and had a new engine fitted in 2014 by VW (supposedly after most of the engine problems were sorted am i right?) car has driven 72 000km and the new engine approx. 20 000km

The other is a 2010 model with the new steering wheel,rcd510something player, all original, looking real nice. VW has replaced timing chain tensioner and the car has driven 49 000km, barely used, everything felt and looked brand new inside this car

I really want to buy the 2010 model as its looking brand new and has barely been used, plus its been driven by a older man, whilst the 2009 has been driven by some young guy(lowered, installed subwoofer, forge valve at turbo etc etc.)

But i dont want to use all this money on a nice car only to blow a piston 2 weeks after purchase with no warranty.

What should i do? :? :?

yeah i wish!

Its kinda out of my price range (norway and taxes :grumpy: ) plus the insurance is through the roof
Also it should be noted that theres not that big of a market for these cars here, and i think theres only two 2litres out for sale atm, both of which are the equalient of 7000gbp more than the 1.4tsi's.

Looks like im getting the 2010 model and doing some engine upgrades (new injectors, coil packs, spark plugs) to avoid the dreaded cracked piston issues.
Wish me luck 8)
