Fitting RNS510

Post by Chesterrrrr »

Hi guys, does anyone know how much this will cost me to get fitted? I'd love to do it myself but I know I'll get it wrong and break something :(! Secondly would anyone happen to be around the Farnborough (hampshire) area know a place that's good to do it? As halfords won't touch it .. Cheers in advance!

Best price for installation I got was £60, dealer said £70-100 depending if software needed updating. It's a pretty simple job and there is a tutorial on this forum as well as on YouTube. Only reason I'd avoid doing it myself is not being sure if steering wheel controls and mfd would work after, and I'm really OCD about things being fully functional :)

I'd say call your local dealer, and a few small shops.see what they say, but do t pay more than £100

There's nothing much to fitting one. Just basic tools and a bit of common sense initially. Then you'll just need some coding changes with VCDS which someone local would do for beer money.

I'd do it for you if you fancy a trip up to North East England.

RCD510 - RNS510 is a straight swap. Trim removal tools and a torx screwdriver set...

You can do without the VCDS coding if you are not fussed about MF displays... if the steering wheel control worked for the RCD510, it should also work for the RNS

Depends if the RNS coding is set correctly from the vehicle it came out of. Different coding systems (DDP & BAP) mean that the unit might not necessarily be set correctly for your vehicle. Also, not coding it correctly will mean errors and fault codes being present all the time until set up is finished.
