Tfsi or tsi

Post by Phil »

A question as old as which came first the chicken or the egg I know..

But I was under the impression the new r was a tsi but have been informed it still a tfsi.

Can anyone explain why the pre facelift says tsi on the engine cover too. I think I'm going mad

The mk 3 pre facelift is a TFSI and the new one is a 3rd gen TSI.

as regards to the engine cover I have no idea. Hope this has helped ;)

I think this is wrong. The facelift (2014/15) R has the same engine, the belt driven cam one, as the pre-facelift (<2013). Not sure if it's TFSI or TSI but it's the same as the old one. The new chain driven cam engine won't come until 2017 when the new new scirocco gets the same platform as the Golf 7. I think!

Chelspeed is correct, all the later Rs still have the TFSI belt drive engine. TSI is just badging and means nothing.
