Today my car started misfiring on the way to work. The EPC and engine management lights came on, and I could smell un-burnt fuel.
I've taken the spark plugs out and one of them was covered in petrol. I've tried swapping the plugs around, and bought a new coil pack and swapped the coil on the cylinder with the unburned fuel. Even with a different spark plug / coil that cylinder is still not firing.
What other causes are there? I'm considering replacing the injector for that cylinder if it's not a huge job / expensive. I have an generic OBD2 reader at home and I'll attempt to get the fault codes later this evening after I've collected it.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

For future reference if anyone has similar symptoms. My dad has managed to fix the issue, simply put fuel cleaner in it!

Are you sure that was a true fix? You might of had a weak spark and when turning the car off/on it is ok. It may come back. If that is the case I would suspect a bad plug or coiljtbrown wrote:For future reference if anyone has similar symptoms. My dad has managed to fix the issue, simply put fuel cleaner in it!

Re: Cyclinder not firing
I don't think it's spark plugs or coils because I'd tried swapping all of the spark plugs / coils around and it was the same cylinder not firing each time. Also noticed when i took the coil / plug for that cylinder out and turned it over it was sparking. Thought it was going to be a compression issue / bad injector but luckily we put fuel cleaner in and let it idle for a bit and it stopped misfiring. I'm not sure if this is a long term fix or whether i'll need to replace the injectors or take the car for a proper engine clean.Gazzagood wrote:Are you sure that was a true fix?
