Chain Tensioner rattle
Hi all, so today i went to VW after a self diagnosed Chain tension rattle, turns out i was right..
My engine is the 1.4 TSI and is now booked in tomorrow to be torn apart and looked at.. Luckily, i know a few people who work at VW so they're going to push the good will gesture from VW and hopefully at least contribute to the cost of fixing the problem as it could be up to a grand to fix.. will keep you all updated when i here more from VW.. Would love to hear how other people got on with VW and the issue..

Re: Chain Tensioner rattle
So my car is now under the knife so to speak, in the trusty (i hope) hands of VW, they gave me a new golf to drive, which is actually really nice! hopefully find out today or tomorrow what's gone on and how much the cost of fixing it all is going to be! fingers crossed.

Re: Chain Tensioner rattle
Okay so we're onto a winner! my car hasn't been to VW for a service for 2 years as i do it myself.. Anyway, VW have priced the fix of my car at £1,281
which caused to nearly fall of my chair.. after a bit of pleading, VW have agreed to cover 100% of the parts cost, and 80% of the labour, which makes my total for a whole new, chain, tensioner, the lot..£180, but they now insist i have a major service at £249 due to the lack of services in VW, but I'm not complaining as they've helped me out a lot this time round
Big thumbs up from me VW!! I hope everyone unfortunate enough to have engine problems gets the same treatment!
