ESP fault

Post by Shaun1982 »

Just had to pop back to work as I'm an idiot, but anyway as I was leaving again ESP fault flashed up on the mfd & I lost power steering.
I turned it off & back on, esp fault shows again but I had power steering again. Drove off & within a few seconds the light is gone.
Never seen it before, any known gremlins about this randomly saying hi?

I had the same experience last night. But in my case the ESP warning light is not flashing.
It is permanently on.
Anybody knows what this means?

It could be any number things so as normal a scan is needed to point you in the right direction.

Typically it can be a faulty wheel speed sensor or a tracking error causing the steering wheel to be off centre confusing the steering angle sensor.

If the battery has been disconnected the Esp light stays on until the steering angle sensor is calibrated by driving a few hundred yards.
