Please help - Scirocco buyer

Post by mxd123 »

Hi,

Im new to this forum, but I've been thinking of buying a scirocco for a very long time. I finally found a really good deal (ill still take it to the mechanic and let them run a diagnosis on it before buying), but don't know if its worth it.

The scirocco in question is a 2009 build, 1.4L 90 kW engine, with just shy of 100,000 km on the clock. As far as I am aware of, there is a big service requirement coming up at 120,000 km? What price can I expect to pay, and what is likely to be exchanged/installed on the car after so many km, out of your experiences.

I took the car for a test drive the other day, and everything sounded and felt fine to me, no whistling turbo, no scraping, the clutch was relatively soft and changing the gears on the manual transmission was very easy, and i did not have to apply and pressure to put it in a gear. Could you let me know anything I should watch out for specifically in how the car behaves while driving when i take it for a test drive again, which could mean a bad sign?

Im a student and thats why I'm afraid of any massive service bills that I may encounter.. Otherwise, is it a reliable car or do parts often fail on it? All services were done by VW at the regular intervals.

Is it realistic to expect the car to waste 10L/100km like I've read many times, or does it waste a lot more driving it moderately?

Lastly, How much can i expect to waste on it a year maintaining it (excluding gas costs)? How much do you dish out a year for servicing/registering/insuring your sciroccos?

Thanks for bearing with me, sorry Ive asked so many questions but Im sure I can find good answers here!
