Misfire Problem

Post by MarkV »

Hey Guys, having a problem with my 2008 2.0 tsi. I don’t claim to be very knowledgeable about cars or the systems I’m describing so you'll have to humour me.

I've been having a problem for the last few weeks with a light on the dash. On tick over about 70% of the time the engine feels like it's running rough (enough to notice) but not so rough that it's regularly misfiring and the engine warning light flashes. The other 30% of the time its fine with no problem. On an odd occasion when it's been ticking over for about 1 to 2 mins it starts to get really rough (like a misfire) and the EPC light comes on. This is solved by a quick cycle of the ignition and then it's back to 'normal' again.

Diagnostic reports a misfire on number 3 but this seems like 2 separate problems. I've changed the coils to no avail and there is no lack of performance so I’m wondering what i should do next.

Thanks Muchly!!
