Hi all, just purchased a 2.0 tdi scirocco last week on a 59 plate and obviously I'm inlove, having wanted one since I began driving 5 years ago.
However, the other day I had a light come on my dash board and a note come on the information screen saying to check a light on the passenger side (can't remember the name of the light, but it shares the same casing as with the indicator underneath the main headlight).
I checked this and as expected the light was out. Anyway I drove home, and upon starting the following morning the alarm was still there but this time saying my right hand side dipped beam was out. Now the other light was back on and my dipped beam out. I've since replaced the dipped beam, but this keeps going off/on as if a loose connection.
I've checked the bulb holder and noticed some slight burning to the electrical connections on the bulb holder on the dipped beam. Just wondering if anyone else has had anything like this? Thought it was a bit strange the initial warning changing and the other light coming back on.
First post btw, I'm not the best 'car person' haha so hoping you experts can help me out, thanks a lot!

Re: Lighting problem
Just changed the bulb holders around (passenger into driver and vise versa) and the problem stayed with my drivers side beam, so that's ruled out the bulb holder. It feels like the thing that you click your bulb holder in to may be lose, so if anybody has any idea how I get in to check that could you spare me 5 minutes to explain? Would be really appreciated.

Re: Lighting problem
Hi Armallinder I just came on the forum to post the same issue. I had this issue about a year ago where both my bulb holders got slightly melted (seperately) and needed replacing. A month or so later I had an issue with my driver's side dipped beam again and resorted to removing the whole headlight unit to take a closer look and see if I could see a loose connection (see this video for advice > " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). However I couldn't find an issue so put it back together and back on the car and lo and behold the dipped beam began working again.
This has been fine until this week when again my driver's side dipped beam has gone off again. I replaced the bulb (the old one had blown) but it still didn't work. The bulb holder looked ok this time but I tried switching with the passenger side to see if that was the issue, still the driver's side dipped beam didn't work. I then tried the changing the fuses over but again no joy.
Has anyone else had this issue and do they have a fix? If not I am going to take a shot in the dark and remove the unit again at the weekend.

Re: Lighting problem
I'm going to try the fix mentioned half way down this post:

The melted bulb holders in the past suggest to my layman's mind that there is something more seriously wrong here though.
