Full Color MFD Instrument Cluster (Golf R Tachometer) help!!

Post by Laaaandon Lad »

Hi guys, I just wondering if someone can help me please in where I can source the Full Color MFD Instrument Cluster (200MPH Speedo) (Golf R Tachometer) sweeping needles (Gasoline/petrol) that comes in the scirocco R. As shown here:

Image

I am going to retro fit it to an MK5 R32 as shown here: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have contacted vw Solihull and Birmingham both are useless and don't seem to have a scooby doo.

The part number seems to 1K8920984 the one as shown on: http://www.carsystems.pl/scirocco-instr ... id133.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

this website seems to have it: http://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/index.php?page=vag_parts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; when entering 1K8920984 but there's no clear description in the one that is needed.

Someone please help me source it and i'll pay them £100!!!!!!

The dealers aren't helping as you've only got a partial part number. The correct code is PN 1K8920984EX which is described as 200MPH, option code PR-9Q4, however you'll need to get the cluster programmed by an expert with the correct kit for it to be functional and to fit a red dot car you'll need an adapter. http://www.carsystems.pl/plug-play-adap ... id658.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There are various other steps and things that may not work properly afterwards unless you change further modules CCM and potentially immobiliser chips in particular.

Hello mate I am absoloutely confused right now. The part number you given me: PN 1K8920984EX option/model code PR-9Q4 does not add up on the piece of paper I got from VW below. 1k8920974EX matches with the option/model code you gave me - PR-9Q4 and the the part number you gave me: PN 1K8920984EX matches to a PR-A9R option/model code as shown below:

Image

It has to have:
Blue needles
Needle Sweep enabled
3 Color Theme settings
Additional feature (Refuel Tank capacity)
Two tone buzzer (if you don't buckle up your seats for certain time and you have seat belt chime enabled the beeping changes tone at certain time)

and it should look like this:
Image

There was also a sale of it on ebay here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-SCIROCCO-R ... true&rt=nc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So it's either one, but it's confusing as there one was sold on ebay but it has different product and model code compared to the one you suggested. The part model u suggest the price difference is £950 compared to the one sold above on ebay which is 650 brand new from VW. I cannot get my money back if it's wrong hence the reason for right the first time! :(

Right your not reading the print out correctly. The single line with no part number is a group header only the option codes below the line are part of that group... as per below in colour from ETKA (vw parts system)
Image

So 1k8920974EX is part of group PR-9Q5 is not a colour LCD display only the normal white display.

The picture you've shown is of the black and white clocks? what do you actually want...
PR-9Q5

PR-9Q4

I'll say this again please, please ensure you know how to code and programme the clocks before fitting in anything that wouldn't have had these as a factory option. I'm not aware of anyone that has managed 100% functionality in a mk5 platform vehicle. Common issues appear to be immobiliser not coding properly, airbag warning, steering wheel buttons not functioning, lack of convenience menus (lights etc). The immobiliser can be sorted by reprogramming the clocks firmware (specialist job) and putting new chips in your keys or by coding out the immobiliser functionality (do tell your insurer that you've disabled to immobiliser). Steering wheel buttons can be sorted by a mk6 wheel. Convenience menus = new CCM. Airbag warning = new module or code out airbag functions (this will disable the bags).

The clocks once partially coded can not be uncoded if you get it wrong. As a suggestion have you tried contacting Richter Sport UK? they are the UK agent for Kufatec and do retrofits of VW bits all the time, I have no affinity with them at all apart from they helped me out with some parts and adaptors last year.

Thanks for response, there seems to different variants which is mixing me up. I want these one from here: http://www.carsystems.pl/scirocco-instr ... id133.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So I will get the one you have mentioned (PN 1K8920984EX) I don't need to mentioned anything to the vw dealer about the model/option code ( PR-9Q4) do I?

Regarding coding and fitment, there is a guy called Kalu based in London who had fit the same thing in before around a year ago, he did mention I needed the adapter of the carsystems website and I also needed my keys as that will needed to be coded/programmed as the car won't start without doing this. He has managed to get everything functioning well for the R32 MK5 retro fitment, the person who he fitted it for also got kalu to fit an mk6 mfsw steering wheel to his MK5 R32.

I will also contact Richter Sport UK and get their take on this.

Many thanks for your help. Will place an order tommorrow!
