1.4 160 TSI fuel type?

Post by stanj028 »

Hello,

I have owned my TSI for a few months now and when I bought it, the guy said he had been using premium unleaded, so I have carried on this trend.

A dilemma has just popped into my head, half the time I fill up with Tesco 99 Ron momentum and the other half of the times I fill up with 97 Ron Sainsbury premium dependant where I am when I'm gettin low (not stance low)

My question is mixing these octanes bad at all? And should I even be using them as I fear if not I have been doing it the past months!

I mean the fuel cap says minimum 95 Ron so surely the engine would love the treat of higher Ron but can it take them mixed?

My car is just over 10k miles and is a 59 plate.

Mixing fuels with.different octane ratings is not an issue and will do no harm. Car has a knock sensor and adjusts the timing nased on the fuel being usrd, whether it be 95, 97, 98,99 or 102.
