Oil warning light already?

Post by CBScotland »

Hi just passed 2500 miles on my 2.0 tsi rocco and the oil warning lights on?

Does this seem normal for a top up as my last car would go well over double this before it needed a top up!

Also what oil would you recommend?

Thanks

You really shouldn't rely on the warning and check the oil level regularly using the dip stick. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine, especially early in it's life during the bedding in phase.

Any brand of 5w30 oil that meets VW504.00/507.00 will suffice.

My preference is Castrol Edge as it's what the factory uses.

vw say that engine can use up too a litter of oil in 5000 mile and thats in tolerance !
when i worked there they did publish a technical bulletin on our server about this issue, they can do an oil consumption test and if its out of tolerance they replace the base engine
