Squealing Breaks and Weird Scoring

Post by richserg »

Dear All,

I'm new on here and been spurred on to sign up in order to seek some expert advise.

Recently I have been experiencing a horrible squealing noise coming from one of my rear breaks, it only happens after driving for 20 minutes or so and is more prominent moving the car left or right (whilst driving 50mph+) the squeal goes away if I apply the hand break or use the breaks..

I have noticed a weird scoring around the outer of the disk, like a mottling effect (see picture).

Can anyone help me out, is it time for new rear disc and pads?

Exact same problem with me O/S wheel on mines its grooved my Disc really bad upon further investigation its my pads have worn that thin that its metal on metal also causing this grinding noise, from what i can see on yours though the disc pad looks like its got alot left on it. Best thing to do is go to a garage and get them to take a look making sure they explain and show you the problem cause they usually lie about the problem or just wait for someone with a little more knowledge about the issue to respond
