Terrible DAB and phone signal

Post by lukeanoble »

Hello all,

Got my Scirocco on the weekend and the signal for the DAB radio and the phone when connected are awful!

The DAB has worked once or twice and I haven't been able to get any phone signal, it picks up and connects to my phone over bluetooth instantly, but then I can't get any signal through the car!

Don't know if the two are linked, might be worth noting the normal radio works perfectly.

Anyone had any similar problems and got a solution?

Thanks very much!!

You don't generally get phone reception through your car, except you have an rSap (Nokia) module as your bluetooth machine. If you have this module, you might need to play with the aerial position, though I doubt it will help much.

As for the DAB signal, maybe you don't have good coverage in your area? just a suggestion

Is the DAB radio the original spec from new? If so the right hand side rear window (drivers side) contains the DAB antenna (looks like a heater element) and the element can get damaged/broken. This might be the problem. It will also affect the FM signal to some extent if this is the cause as the FM signal uses the elements both sides of the car.
