GT 210 spec...query
Just picked my new Black GT up yesterday after months of waiting (very, very excitedly) for build confirmation, transportation, arrival at dealership etc etc! Absolutely thrilled with my 'second' Scirocco (gone from a 160 to a 210ps)-& loving the purr of the 2.0l engine!
One query though...might seem trite but I was expecting aluminium pedals...as it states on the Website spec...should I go back to the dealer and query? Or have I got it completely wrong.
Been looking online, at adding myself but looking like £200 plus fit-not too thrilled about that!
Any advice/ approach with dealer would be appreciated!
Cheers

Re: GT 210 spec...query
genuine VW ones much, much cheaper on ebay
Re: GT 210 spec...query
If it states it on the website demand they fit them! Although do bear in mind that no GT's come withthem but if they are going to advertise a car with them then they should stand by it.
They are a about £50 odd quid on ebay but not always available.

Thank you.
Dealer didn't flinch/ nor waiver when I said the website states aluminium pedals as standard-so a no go there.
Will pursue the eBay route. Thank you all.

Re: GT 210 spec...query
This is not right, I just checked as well and it says aluminium look pedals are standard spec on the GT (as well as R Line). You should expect those to be part of your vehicle, can't see the dealer can refuse.fraff13 wrote:Thank you.

Re: GT 210 spec...query
I would call VW Customer Services to see what can be done as the car does not meet your expectations as per advertised and your dealer seems unwilling to help.
Re: GT 210 spec...query
Good advice from Skippy and Bob - poor response from the dealer. What is their explanation. Have you got this info in a printed brochure. They really should respond - its very poor form. Tell VW CS about them - this sort of thing needs to be nipped in the bud! Sorry but this kind of thing really annoys me!

Re: GT 210 spec...query
Thank you all for your very helpful responses. Skippy thanks for verifying that the pedals comes as standard on the GT-thought I'd got it wrong/ was seeing things! I just have to check that this was the case in July when I ordered it (again this was a palaver with the dealer then as previous salesman told me a Gt was available (in VW stock) in order to retain my business from another dealer) I paid deposit & then a week later he contacted me & told me there wasnt a car & I'd have to wait for car to be built. Hence the 3 month wait!!
Anyhow...annoyed now as the thought of paying another 200 quid for fitting pedals infuriates me! I'll try thr dealer again and if no joy will be in touch with VW CS! Will let you all know outcome. Many thanks again...Raffs

Re: GT 210 spec...query
God luck but for £50 I think I'd just get a set off eBay and save myself the aggravation. It will sour the experience of getting a brand new car.
Re: GT 210 spec...query
Its the principal of the thing - it need to be addressed and the dealer needs to make a considered response in my opinion...

Re: GT 210 spec...query
OEM pedal sets can be bought for around £50 on ebay. the same items from the parts counter of franchised UK dealer are nearly £200.

Re: GT 210 spec...query
Well,
Went back to the dealer who basically sent me a copy of thr brochure which said pedals were only on models above GT i.e. r line GTS only. So effectively dismissed & the spec classified & advertised online ignored completely. So...rather than pursuing this further, leaving a sour taste...the fact I've even had to raise it, is! I will have to swallow the 200 quid outlay-but very disappointed indeed.
Thanks all for your comments

Re: GT 210 spec...query
Mmmm - unless perhaps at the time of order the aluminium pedals were not standard on the GT, I guess that is what they are saying.
I think you can download older brochures to double check, either way - it does not seem that the dealer is being helpful at all, it is annoying when spec changes soon after delivery and what perhaps was an optional extra is suddenly standard - very annoying.
I still think the dealer should have been more helpful, but I know if it were me, I would pursue this if I had the facts in black and white.
I may try and look into this myself as this kind of thing annoys me.

Re: GT 210 spec...query
I bought mine new September 2012. At the time the vw website stated metal pedals as standard on gt spec.
When it arrived it was normal rubber ones. I asked why haven't I got metal pedals and they said the website is wrong and gt comes with rubber ones. I just left it at that. Couldn't be bothered to argue. Didnt want to be all pissed off after buying my car.

It still claims it now - 'Aluminium look pedals' allocated to GT and R-Line...

Re: GT 210 spec...query
Welllll the plot thickens! I eventually got a call back from VW customer services (profuse apologies for twice sayin theyd get back to me and didnt) to be addressed quit curtly by a young woman who told me that aluminium pedals cannot be fitted retrospectively and thats that. The question as to why it is advertised so 'all' over the websie she quoted a disclaimer twice. In response to my saying its false advertising she didnt really have an answer. Stated something along the lines of 'you would have ordered from the dealer using a bochure' Eh No! I was shown the configure/build app on VW fancy ipads to oder my gt! So really no answer...and the phone call ended with her asking me is that the case closed now-absolutely not!! I will pursue this as it is a matter of principle and it is false advertising.
Interestingly-tonight ive checked on VW's website and its now been removed from the spec online! Duplicity and its not over yet...theres more to come!!!

Re: GT 210 spec...query
Gosh lots of typos in last post-apologies!
In addition: the young team leader from VW CS also told me that aluminium pedals cannot be fitted retrospectively on the GTI (I reminded her-eh no its a gt that I have!) Apparently it will cause 'all manner of technical problems to my car' Is this true? Why then was a VW parts dealer able to offer to order these for me & a dealership to fit them?
Im so angry at being treated like an idiot!!

Re: GT 210 spec...query
Interesting - I had them fit to my very first and second Scirocco - both were GTs
Still going strong =)
Re: GT 210 spec...query
This sort of BS from VW makes me so angry. to be honest I would not call them - would do everything by letter so you have a paper trail. The pedals are very straight forward to fit once you have done one set! Dont buy them from a dealer though - much cheaper on ebay but here, this is about the principal of VW false advertising and then just brushing customers off when they fail to deliver on the specs as claimed. They have had ample time to correct that mistake and did not.....
Quick update - its not really rlevent to this but had a look in the July 2012 specs brochure (the small one) and that was actually correct - saying 'aluminium look pedals' in R-Line and above only.... hmmm...
