Phone cradles

Hi All,

Has anyone got any experience with phone cradles? I basically want to be able to mount my android phone so I can use it as sat nav/power it at the same time (I only have RCD-510)

I was looking at the Bury system 8/9 stuff - I believe these were the same sort of thing VW used to fit as an option but was just rebadged

Does anyone know if there are any pre-drilled holes for the mount? Pictures on the net seem to show the mount fitted towards the lower left of radio volume button somewhere behind the trim.

I was looking for something that wouldn't leave suction marks etc too. I came across tetrax x way - attaches to the airvent. Only downside is you need to attach a magnet to your phone cover and the ££ but definitely worth it

The bury system doesn't require nod drilled holes. The used some sort of double sided adhesive to hole it on to the dash.
Never seen it sold before though, maybe at electrical stores.

I spent ages looking for a good cradle for my iPhone. I ended up finding this, which in my mind isn't very intrusive at all and requires no sticking, mounting or anything. I like it so much I've actually put a hold on my covered cup holder install. Not eye level for sat nav but similar to the height of Trix's mount. I have an RNS510 but when I use my phone as sat nav in my other car, I rarely need to look at the screen anyway.

I use one of those dash mats that anything sticks to it, got it off eBay for a pound, cut it down so its slightly larger than my phone and have it covering the rev counter. When your not needing the holder it stores nicely in the glove box.

I've just added a Brodit centre mount from DSL Developments http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/f ... l=Scirocco for my SatNav as I find the window mounts place it too far away to reach comfortably. It took a little while to arrive as they had to order in from the manufacturer, but I'm pleased with it so far. It may look a little intrusive without the device attached, but I've been wondering whether I could fashion a blanking plate to cover the screw holes....anyone know anyone with a 3d printer?!

Get the above, I've been using it for many years. It only breaks when you get a turnip otherthan yourself that doesn't know how to release the phone and then breaks the damn thing. I've had about 3 in the space of 5 years. Fit's all phones, will always stick to the windscreen without dropping randomly unless poorly sucked to the windscreen during installation. It's really really really good.

I just sit mine in the cup holder nearest the gear stick, and use a USB adaptor lead plugged into the armrest with a short Nokia USB-micro USB lead. It fits a treat and find it easy to glance down to the screen if needs be. Also works well to use the speakerphone when driving, as the sound from the speaker in the back of my phone "bounces" back out of the cup-holder.

I have also used a cigarette lighter USB adaptor and just sat the phone sideways in the space under the dashboard in front of the gear stick, but isn't as easy.
