Phone Buttons in Roof

Post by Sootchucker »

HI all. Even though I had the Rocco for nearly 2 years, at lunch I was looking at the buttons in the roof panel for the bluetooth phone connection. Having never pressed these before, I gave them a go, and was first presented with a message saying that calls to this number would be charged, then "sorry - the number you have called is not in use" ?

Does anyone actually use these buttons, and if so, is it possible to program them with new numbers, or are they just a complete waste of time ?

I'm not aware of anyone actually using them although the one with the spanner calls VW Assist so I can see being useful.

The other one is just a VW Information line as far as I'm aware.

I would have thought it would be possible to change thd numbers via VCDS as each coumtry will have different numbers for services.

Telephone module --> Adaption in VCDS there are four items at the bottom of the drop down list. Two for each button. The Service/Breakdown coding requires 7 bytes which are entered as their raw numeric values. So for VW assist I entered 08 00 77 71 72 00 00 (note padding with 0's for the last two bytes). The Information number requires 8 bytes, again pad with 0's for the extra bytes.

When my VW assist expires I'll be changing it to the RAC number. Or something useful, like pizza and whores.
