Hi,
Can anyone help?
I have a 2.0 GT? TDI 140 ps on an 09 plate, traded my TT in 2 months ago for it as the TT was getting older and didn't want any problem, so, thought VW diesal, carnt go far wrong?
Anyway, took it up to Scotland from Yorkshire last weekend, drove like a dream up there and all weekend,
Coming back we pulled out of the services and I let the other half drive, we went to move out of 1st lane, flipped DSG paddle to get a little power and all hell let loose.... Or glow plug light came on, said take to garage or whatever. Pulled off again, turned engine off, all seemed fine, left it in DSG most of way back and took it steady.
Nearly home and got behind a tractor up a hill, so, as you would, paddle shifted down to over take... Glow plug light and flashing and engine warning light on, serious lack of power which nearly lead to a bemma ploughing up the rocs arse end!
Had to pull over again twice to get get the car to the top of said hill, limped it home, but then had to drive 50 miles to where I was staying for work the next day, no glow plug this time, just engine warning.
Drove it a few times over the next day or so but only a few miles at a time, by 3rd day it still lacked a little power but no lights.
Driven home today (it's booked in garage tomoz btw) got nearly home, put my foot down to overtake, back into limp mode!
Now when the first incident happened it was on it day 60 of a 60 day warrenty, so I'm not sure how things are going to play, all should be fine but I've already had issues with the garage, mainly due to them smashing the bumper before I picked it up and then not wanting to pay the 1000 to replace and buckling my alloy...
I don't want them to take piss and try an tell me it's nothing to avoid having to fix it, I know exactly how to get the light back on if it goes off though, does anyone have any idea on what it could be????
Cheers in advance!

Re: Glow plug flashing and engine warning light
Sounds like either the DPF is blocked and wanting regenerated or one of the pressure sensors that measure the pressure either side of the DPF has failed.

Re: Glow plug flashing and engine warning light
Thanks Bob,
The other half picked it up from the garage on saturday, they have replaced a boost sensor in the exhaust?, not 100% as I have no paper work to say what they have done, another bugbear, but he didn't even get it home before the problem occurred again. I drove it last night for around 10 miles and had to stop 3 miles. I've rung the garage this morning and booked it in but considering taking it somewhere else. I personally think it's something to do with the DPF but think the garage are trying to avoid it as it is warranty work. Grrrr! Lesson to be leant - always go to VW dealers, not these silly motorstores me thinks

Or maybe not the dealers in my case as ours is utter crap but we do have a good VW specialist nearby that I swear by

Now got my brim back, back to its amazingness, it was a boost sensor that was faulty, the first garage I took it to admitted to resetting the ECU and not replacing the sensor first time round. VW specialist fixed it

Re: Glow plug flashing and engine warning light
Sounds exactly like the issue I had. See thread below. Fixed now. Faulty turbo vacuum apparently -

Re: Glow plug light flashing
I bought a scirocco tdi 140bhp last week! The EML light came on and i had to replace the dpf pressure sensor! Reset the light and the car was still lacking power and lacking turbo boost! Took te car a run to carry out a forced regen and when i started driving normally on the way home the glow plug light started flashing saying visit garage! Turned the car off and waited and turned it on and seemed as if nothing had happened! A few people have said boost sensor faults and exhaust sensor faults! The dpf light has never came on just the eml light sayin dpf pressure sensor but i replaced that ad no light again so far! Anyone had the same problem? Thanks
