Back in a Rocco....

Post by wigit »

well only for a part of day

i felt a bit conscipuous driving this around MK today as its not exactly understated and generally attracted a lot of attention at traffic lights and roundabouts.

finally took up VWRs offer of taking this for an decent drive today as wanted to see what their two way adjustable coil overs and six pot brakes felt like (as they are destined for the new golf) and in reality this was the way my car was going to go if i'd kept it

car has had a fair bit of mechanical modification done to it, engine mounts, clutch and smf (really responsive), suspension, arbs, intake and 9" wide alloys, tune wise this is running APR stage 1 and APR cat back (so lacking mid range compared to a stage 2 car), the car is not running a diff or XDS and was rather well mannered and could easily cope with more beans

interior wise its running Recaro CS seats (stunning seats and a worthy upgrade as way more supportive than stock), half cage and four point harnesses (stock belts retained for road use)

has to be said this is a seriously good road car and in reality the set up so well you could use it as a daily driver (in reality in the driving seat the screen banner and half cage in the mirror is what gives it away), the car is not about absolute power but handling and it did put a smile on my face and the damping was so good you'd never think the car had a 45/50mm drop, also the six pots were nice and progressive and not oversized compared the the car so rear was never compromised, indeed ride quality was better than the stock gti set up on the ed35 and my old rocco on springs
