GT or standard... difference ?

Post by alanr »

Going to have a look at 2 cars next weekend a standard sirocco and the GT version, what is the difference between the two regarding the spec
Other than the obvious, the wheels
The standard is 140 BHP TDI
And the GT is a 170 BHP TDI £ 1500 more than the one above
Which one would you go for?

Thanks for your help

the gt version adds as standard; the high line mfd computer (& multifunction steering wheel), front foglights, rear window tints, 2 zone climate control, 18" wheels.. thats the vast percentage of differences
they have a nice synopsis of it on the VW scirocco page > features & options

which would i go for? it would depend on the age of car, number of miles (assuming 2nd hand), condition

I would be very tempted with the 170 GT, so long as the colour/interior and overall condition is to my liking. Not that I own a 170 but I gather it is a good performance advantage over the 140 with very little fuel penalty.

For me it would be the 170GT everytime. I've driven my dad's CC 170 - it is bloody quick :eyepop: In the Scirocco I can only guess it will be even quicker!

For me the 170 wasn't worth much over the 140. I mean, you can tell the difference but the 140 is plenty quick and the 170 isn't in a different league.
A lot of the GT stuff is really nice to have, but most of it can be fitted to the base model. Do you know what options the standard car has?
All else being equal I think I'd still get the GT. In a year you'd regret getting the cheaper one more than you'll miss the cash.
