Leaving the car on axle stands

Post by Ian_Mac »

Hello all

After a couple of unfortunate incidents where curbs have jumped out on me I think it's time to get the alloys refurbished. (hopefully in time for GTI International)

As I've not got any spare wheels to swap over my only option is to leave the car on axle stands while the wheels are away.

I don't suppose someone has an underneath shot of the car showing where best to place the axle stands is? I'm guessing my car hasn't got the jacking pad mod, I know I've not done it. I just don't want to cause any damage while it's sat with the wheels off.

Any advice folks :)

Where ate you sending them? Some companies have loan wheels you can use while they are doing yours

Lepsons in Swindon did them previously on my TT and did a top notch job. It's a 90 mile round trip so not as if I could just pop down to pick a loan set up.

Maybe there is some really kind person in Somerset who has a set I can borrow (car won't be driven with them on) but I know that's a long shot.

if they have some to lend you, courier round trip? Drop the loans off, take yours back then reverse.

I'll have to have a chat with them, I like the courier idea but it just all adds to the cost. Lepsons aren't the cheapest to start with but given their service last time I'm happy to go back again.
