Brake Problems

Post by montstable »

Hi All,

Just looking for some advice. Recently visited the track at Bedford and the car performed impeccably, apart from slight brake judder when the brakes were hot. Didn't think anything of this until recently braking relatively hard on the motorway with cold brakes and getting the same unnerving judder. Concerned as does this now mean the discs are permanently warped?? Due to go into the dealers tomorrow for them to have a look.

Thanks for any help.

If u didn't let them cool down properly after each session then yes they may well be permanently warped now. You could always warp them back by getting them hot again.

Replacement discs and pads aren't too bad (get then from TPS or Seat dealer maybe)

My OE set up lasted 18k miles and quite a few track days :)

I did do a full cool down lap after every session - first couple of laps I got an instructor who explained the importance of it. When you say warp them back - can this be done?? I have a track day pencilled in for March so will try them out again then.

Well I've heard it's possible but not really tried the trick myself

My judder went away after a bit of driving

Ultimately u need to look at proper set up if doing more than occasional track thrash

Yeah I'm with you on that one - already looking for a replacement racing set if the dealers say the discs are knackered tomorrow.
