Does anyone know who/what/where the database if kept for vehicles?
The problem I have had from day 1 with my motor is that when you, for example, enter the registration details into a insurance website, it comes up with a slightly incorrect vehicle - in my case DSG transmission which i dont have.
I have chcekd with the DVLA and they dont register the transmission type of the car, so I am informed it isnt them and they couldnt point me in the direction of who I can speak with to get my car detailed ammended either.
Anyone got any ideas?

Just make sure you're in the right car tax bracket, as a DSG version generates more CO2 than a manual version and could cause you to be paying more for your car tax disc.
Does the registered keeper doc (V5) mention whether your car is manual or auto? I think it does (is it correct on your V5?), it definitely states the CO2 emissions for tax purposes.

That was happening to me too on one of the insurance websites, although I can't remember which one. All the others correctly showed my car was a manual and not DSG. My insurance certificate also shows my car as the manual.
Insurance is such a funny thing and seems to defy any logic.

I dont think it is on the V5, as the DVLA do not hold that detail. I am starting to think it is kept on the MID (Motor Insurance Database), but will need to ask my insurer to update the details on it.
