If its a council road then you can measure it/photograph it and then put in a claim to the council.

I think generally unless you can prove that they already know about that pot hole and had done nothing about it then you'll get nowhere with your claim.
Most local authorities have a highway inspection regime whereby road and footpaths are checked on a prescribed programme and providing that their regime is deemed reasonable, and provided that they are following it, then a court will rule that they have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that their roads are maintained in a safe condition. This is based upon the fact that it would be unreasonable to expect a local authority to keep every stretch of road in their borough in pristine condition - which does make sense.
P.S. My wife hit a large, water filled pothole this afternoon which may have caused tyre damage. Will have to check it tomorrow

Sorry to hear this but check out Camskill they have P Zero tyres for just under £200 although you'll need to give a local tyre monkey a back hander to fit and balance.RJM85 wrote:So tonight ive hit a pothole (unlit road) and its ripped a nice hole in the side of my 19" Pirelli Pzero - Cost around £230 after looking on the net. Tyre fitted on Wednesday by Kwikfit, £201 all in - tyre had to be ordered from Pirelli in London with it being the K1 specific to our cars.

I would of sold you one of mine I want to swap hate the Pirellis - had one blow last year (still have the winters as I only got back from Germany a few weeks ago). It was very amusing to see Pirelli come down to collect the tyre for inspection only to find that they told me I must have hit something. Well how the hell can you explain if I hit something that I had a gash on the bottom part measuring 4cm and then a gash on the top part inside tyre measuring 2cm at the same time....I was very impressed that my wheel had managed to bounce up so hard ripping the inside out at the top.
