Hi all,
My wipers are doing my head in. The car is 1 month old, I found the wipers didn't do a great job so I applied rain x. Now the wipers jump and slap so much, at the highest position the wiper blade hits the pillar on every wipe!
Is there any cure for this? I love rain x and would be annoyed if I need to remove it!

Sort the wiper position out ASAP, I'm sure a member on here had the same problem and it ended up damaging the paint on the A-pilar (resulting in a respray). It's really easy to do, pop the cap off the wiper arm, slacken the nut, wiggle the arm to free it off the threads and adjust to a suitable position.

Take it back to the dealers. The wiper arm is fitted at the wrong position. Needs an adjustment of the wiper arm on the spindle's spline. Otherwise it will take the paint off fairly quickly.
A quick check is to park them. The outer arc point of the driver's wiper blade assembly bottom edge should be 45mm from the windscreen bottom edge/plastic plenum chamber edge (after it has kicked up slighlty). The passenger wiper blade assembly is about 50mm. The clearance at the top of the sweep driver's side is then 30mm on the fast setting and the "stop line" runs parallel with the "A" windscreen pillar edge all the way down the right side of the windscreen.
Nut torque is 12Nm.
Fit Jetta MkVI wipers - part number Drivers - 5K2 955 426, passenger - 5K2 955 425.

plus for contaminents such as windscreen adhesive droplets
