DSG and warranty/dpf question

Post by Daz85UK »

If anything was to go wrong with a dsg box in the first 3 years would it be covered by warranty?

Also I do a 15 - 20 minute journey to work which is on a few 40/50 mph roads but only for about 2 minutes before the next set of lights, is this lightly to affect the DPF and causing clogging still?

Cheers

DSG - yes, faults would be covered by the warranty - I had my mechatronics unit replaced earlier in the year with no problem other than the dealer having the car for a few days to run through VW's troubleshooting.

DPF - if the DPF gets to the point that it needs to regen, a warning light will come on the dash but all you need to do is take it out on a reasonable run to clear. My commute is 35 - 40 minutes through stop start traffic and not had a problem - admittedly route on the way back home is more free-flowing, but I'm only aware of the DPF going through a regen cycle twice when I've got out the car and the fans were still running with a horrible burning smell!
