Hi would like to hear your views on the following questions for a Scirocco 2.0tdi 140 bhp ?

Is it a pain to try and open door in winter ?

Could u damage window if try and open door in winter before deicing the glass?

Is boot size small, how have u got on with the boot ?

How you find looking through rear seat via mirror and general visability from car?

Thinking of buying 2.0 tdi 140bhp does that rattle at 2200 to 2800 rpm effect this car or at this stage this is fixed ?

If anyone can help I would be grateful. It's either a roc or passat for 2012

Yes it was until the new tricks were learnt. I use Kytox but I tend to pour luke warm water over the door window seal areas, top & bottom. And lubricate the door lock mechanism each side about twice during Dec - Feb in winter with VW lock lube. Use de-icer aerosol if away from home and no access to luke warm water. Sometimes carry a 1 ltr vacuum flask if I know I will be stuck. You know its going to happen so I just cope with it. Like carrying carpet tiles and a shovel in the boot. Just one extra thing if the weather is bad.

There is a production change at the beginning of 2011 that introduces a strip in the lower window rubber seals on the door to combat this otherwise do a search on "krytox" or "gummipflege" and plenty will come up like this http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... lit=krytox" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yes! Bend the winding mechanism so the window does lie flush with the body lines.

Is boot size small, how have u got on with the boot ?
Fine. As big as the old Mk2 Scirocco. Just carried a 7ft x 1.5ft x 1ft parcel in the car today. Swallowed it easy.

One of the finer points! But you get use to it. There are two blind spots through the C pillars/wing mirrors you have to be careful with as the wing & centre mirrors are not 100%. My last daily driver was a Mk2 Scirocco which was 100% mirror cover and total glass almost so was spoilt by good viz all round.

? Don't think so. Its a petrol TSI 2.0ltr noise. There is a diesel ticking noise from the high pressure pump. That is normal and customers are informed accordingly.

I've had very little problems opening the doors in winter - just one occasion. But my Roc is kept under a carport overnight. Others have had more frequent problems at colder times of the year.

I use the boot a lot as I carry a load of equipment for work and find the boot size and shape is fine. You might find that the hatch opening is a bit restricted for loading large bulky items.
And don't forget that unlike some of the Roc's competitors it does have 2 proper full size rear seats.

The view through the rear mirror is a bit limited for normal driving but not a real problem especially if you make good use of the wing mirrors with the occasional glance over your shoulder. The rear head restraints don't obscure the view to any real extent. When it comes to reversing it does take some getting used to and use of the wing mirrors is essential. Reversing sensors help a lot with this.

Not a pain, just be careful. I park in the garage now I've made space, so never any issues. But if you dont have anything to hand, I used water on a "rag" to sort it out. I'm sure I don't need to tell you it should not be boiling or even that warm.

I think it's rather generous. I have a huskie dog and her head rests perfectly between the two rear seats too

It's not the Roc's strong point. It's the most difficult car for reversing I have ever driven (for visibility) to be fair.

Just a few more questions

Does the roc s windows seal well as in not whistle on motorways etc?

In relation to damaging the window if trying to open in winter, want could get damaged and is it expensive to fix?

Putting some silicon or the other stuff that was mentioned does this help to release the window and prevent windows freezing, Or just de ice and/or use warm water anyway?

Think I'm happy with visability and boot size just now window issues as such.

No they don't whistle at all.
The silicone type sealants do reduce the chances of windows freezing up but can't stop it completely. I've had normal car doors freeze up on me in the past. The sealant also stops the rubber seals from squeaking against the glass.
I've not heard of anyone having to get their windows fixed after freezing up, although a few have frozen up on odd occasions. They are probably more robust than we think.

I've only had my Roc since June so the winter is a bit of worry for me as the car is kept on my drive. Like Ryy I have a dog in the boot but mine is a much prettier Cocker Spaniel.

As for rear vision and parking I don't find it a problem at all. I drove HGVs for years and have always parked my cars just using the wing mirrors and find the wheel arches of the rear wheels a really good sighting point.

Just keep the de-icer in your boot as that will generally open a lot easier than the doors if they're frozen. I thought the doors might be a problem in winter, but didn't have any major issues. Couple of times they went down and then left a gap when they didn't return to full up position, but that's easy enough sorted by opening fuly and closing fully.
