Swirl marks best way to fix

Hi,

I've tried hard over the last few months to clean my car while avoiding scratches and swirl marks. However after a particularly dusty experience the bonnet has fallen foul of various very fine scratches. These are scratches that are not through the paintwork but more reflection scratches, so you see them more by the reflection of the sun if you move your head around, if that makes sense! What products should I use to try to fix these? Some kind of glaze product, or just lots of wax?

You will find it very hard to hide the swirl marks , removing them is very very hard by hand, a machine is the best bet, it depends how far you want to go

If you want to remove swirls without going to the expense of rotary machine equipment. You can get good results by....

- Cleaning the car as normal, ie wash it with car shampoo and dry off.

- Apply 3M's Imperial Hand Glaze
Apply like a wax on each panel at a time with a pad. Use circular and straight motions to work it. Then hand buff off with a microfibre. Wash the Scirocco again and apply your wax to finish off. Do not do this in bright sunlight/midday as it will make hard work for you. Best done inside or later when the day is cool and damper.

- If you've got swirls while you've had the Scirocco, take a look at what you are washing it with and how, as that may be causing it. ie. the sponge, mitt or whatever.

Excellent thanks, yeah I know where I got the marks from, it was a few weeks back when that volcano went off, coupled with tree sap. Despite rinsing it, foaming it, rinsing, foaming again, using a mitt etc. it still managed to lightly mark the paintwork. I'll give that stuff a bash thanks, I'm not precious about it but anything that will help and isnt major hassle I'll give a go

The Poorboys Blackhole (dark) White Diamond (light) are very good at filling, as is AG Super Resin Polish. Top off with a wax or sealant of your choice.
