Dealers can't do tyre pressures

Post by scimitar »

Always check my tyre pressures regularly, use a digital gauge which is quite accurate, pressures should be 33psi all round, after picking car up from main dealer service (Gilders of Sheffield) tyre pressure warning light came on. Checked pressures 1 was 36psi. 2 were 37psi. and one was 49psi Given the unseasonably warm weather maybe I would expect to read 34 or 35 but 49!!!

That is a bit scary!

I always carry one of the cheapo Halfords ones with me too - a hangover from Lotus days!!

It's quite worrying how inaccurate petrol station units can be too.

I've had a few digital ones and found them to be widely inaccurate. I could measure the same tyre 4 times and get 4 very different pressure readings.
I stick with my old trusty chromed extending pen gauge which I've had for years
