Tracking VW order No/Commission No

Post by squidly »

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and I placed an order for a new Scirocco back in Jan 2011. I've now received my VW Factory Order No and wondered if this is trackable on the Internet or whether only the dealer or VW Customer Services can do this?

I have an unconfirmed build date of early May, but I'm wondering if this will hold or whether it's likely to slip. If anyone can help or has recent experience with their orders I'd appreciate any input. I'm aware that there have been parts delays, especially with the DSG gearbox, but have these delays been resolved now?

Thanks in advance.

You can only use your comission number to track your order through VW customer services (your dealer will just use your name ;) ) you may find sometimes you get through to someone who just tells you to go back to your dealer for info, it is luck of the draw. Your dealer should be your first point of contact, build up a relationship with them, take an interest & do make sure you ask them to keep you updated (if you want to be) they do not automatically update you. You may find you need to keep in regular contact & tap them up occassionally for info so try to maintain a positive relationship with them :)
Not aware of any particular parts shortages at the moment, if your build week does shift about (it can come forward as well as slip back) its generally 2 weeks either way, it shouldn't be anything horrendous. But do bear in mind if you make any changes to your order they have the potential to cause it to slip aswell.

Thanks for the fast response, that's really helpful. I'll keep talking to my dealer as you say, but hopefully the order will be confirmed over the next couple of weeks. Good to hear that the order can come forward as well as slip.

When I originally placed the order in Jan I was quoted a mid September delivery, but this week I've been told that I have a unconfirmed slot in build week 19, so I guess it's a case of waiting for confirmation. The dealer reported that if this gets confirmed I should see the car in mid June....let's hope.

I'm not planning on changing the order, so again, hopefully the current dates will be retained.

Thanks again

generally your build week will go to confirmed (ie fixed) roughly 3 weeks before the actual week so not too long now :)

I ordered my car 24th Jan and it's due for completion Week 15 (i.e. from my understanding that means it is currently being built!)

I was told to expect it July when I ordered based around the delays... so i'd hope that means that everything is back on track, DSG certainly seems to be, though my car does use the 7 Speed DSG whereas yours has the 6....
