If its that bad ask them to fit new pads, if thats a no then buy some shims on eBay & get the dealer to stick them on when checking the brakes

have you tried given it some hard braking down a country side road as the faces may have glazed and that fixes it for me

It's a performance car and the pads are of a harder composition than Ones on your saxo/corsa

They could re grease it or fit more anti squeal shims but its part and parcel of performance pads really. Sometimes u get lucky sometimes u don't. Think yours have been thrashed cos mine started squealing after some abuse :D

Taking the car to the dealer cos of squeaky brakes!!! Mental. It is 100% wear and tear.

Just strip em and clean em and re-grease em. Easy.

Then take it to an independant garage, never ever go near a dealer for stuff like this.

you will save the VW dealer tax and bs thats goes with it and in reality i've found independants better to deal with than most dealers

what else can i complain about.........brakes screeching ARGHHHHH i should have kept my tdi i looked after it the person who had this for a year clearly drove it very hard and didn't look after it at all.... body work is ace but inside oh it feels so bad
chani1312 » Tue Mar 01, 2011 5:12 pm
well took it back to VW today made my feelings very clear to them, and they have took it in for three days to rectify all problems, i just said i wont accept anything else other than new front alloys thats it, so hopefully that should work.

good progress...........rang vw to ask the progress of the car, and they have sorted the boot rattle, the door card rattle, places new seals on doors new driver handle......the knocking noise when turning right was a shock absorber split they replaced that under warranty......and they have also made sales pay for two brand new alloy wheels.....apparently they are testing the car and also re padding areas where they think rattling can be an issue so bit of a wake up call to warrington to never let a car go out like that again!
Didn't they address the brakes then?

If they did, and its obviously not fixed, they should be rectifying it at their cost.

Seems to be quite common for this car. Mine where noisy, especially when cold. A lot of the time when gently braking. VW said they could look at it, but would have my car for the day and have no courtesy cars. So I left them and just done 3 rounds of hard braking without ABS coming on when they get worse. (although had mintex pads put on today)

I doubt they can claim it back from VW, so it would cost them. Hence their lack of willingness.
