Possible problem with brakes

Post by dougroc »

Hi,

I drive with hand controls and have just booked it in to have them checked due to something i have noticed since having the car. Just wondering if anybody has heard of the problem to help determine if it is the car or the controls.

Basically a couple of times when I have braked until stationary for example going onto my drive and then i roll forward slightly, when i brake again the hand control does not move a bit like when u press the brake pedal without the engine on and its runs out of gas and the pedal therefore does not move. I have not left it long enough to c if the car actually moves again, as I don't fancy hitting anything lol! Has anybody else experienced this and is this something the roc does when the brakes r applied a couple of times from stationary?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Following this post I have had my hand controls checked and had it confirmed they are ok. However, slightly confused again as the car actually did it again on the way back from having them checked. However this time I was able to test as there was nothing infront of me.

I was stopped at the light with the brake depressed and went off the brake then back on it again very quickly. The pedal would not go down, however the car did not move just like the brakes were still working. Is this some kind of feature of the car that I cannot work out or does it need checking? It seems odd that the car would not begin to move on the creep.

Any thoughts?

The dangerous way ... on a slight hill press the brake until at a stop then release if the car remains stationery for a few seconds before releasing .. you have hill hold, if it just rolls back you dont

The safe way ... Did you ask to have it put on the car? Ask the dealer to check the spec that was ordered.

well I certainly didn't ask to have it put on the car but assuming I did have it would this prevent the brake pedal from being depressed a second time when on a hill?

Thanks Trix. Do you happen to know if this sounds like the thing I am describing where the brake cannot be pressed?

sorry Doug, I haven't got a clue as to the effect of hill hold on the brake pedal as I do not have it on my car.

Ok thanks anyway. Hopefully somebody else can let me know. At least it was reassuring to be able to test that the car didn't move so it is now seeming like some kind of feature.

Hill hold is standard with dsg and yes it makes the peddle feel hard.
