I might need to sell my Roc to pay for a house! help guys!
Hi guys it is with heavy heart that I am actually thinking of selling my beloved Scirocco R. The missus and me are looking at mortgages for flats and although I would love to have both payments on my car as well as mortgages I dont want to be scrimping on things because of it.
So I suppose what I am asking is, where are the best places to advertise and put my car should I decide to go through with it?
Candy White Scirocco R - Registered March 2010 (10 Plate but with a private reg which I will take off)
DSG
18 inch Black Talladegas
Cruise Control
Leather
12 Way seat adjustment
Pano Sunroof
Scirocco Mats
2 Years free servicing
Paint Guard
GAP insurance
Tyre Insurance
I have owned it since October and it currently has 8500 miles on it. I am the second owner.
I was thinking of taking a hit and selling at about 29000. Can anyone give me advice?!
(I have finance on the car which will be paid off.)
Because I drive a lot for work I will have to downgrade to something sub 13k like an astra or something, but it will kill me doing so.

Don't do it. You will be miserable. If you are forced into it, buy something with more poke than an astra. I've had one - they are boring.

As above, also check the price that they are fetching at the moment, yours is a few 'K' over what others are going for too

Shouldn't that be considering selling the house to buy a Scirocco?
Depends which one you get - I had an Astra prior to my Scirocco and it had a bit more poke than the VW.samds74 wrote:Don't do it. You will be miserable. If you are forced into it, buy something with more poke than an astra. I've had one - they are boring.

I was looking at the new VRS. But a fully specced one is like 19.5k! Its crazy.
182, I have listed the car for sale at 28.5k or nearest offer, but have had nothing so far from pistonheads or the roc forums. They are still going for around 30k for a similar spec on the VW websites. I don't know why interest has decreased.
I bet I will regret this decision for ever!

Im in a similar position (moving home) but am holding out to check every alternative to avoid selling the Roc R.
Will speak to my financial advisor as sometimes they have the odd nugget of info that can sway the decision for the better. eg increase the mortgage term to reduce the monthly repayment (you can always overpay if you have spare cash) and re assess the term when you remortgage in couple of years time when it expires, so nout lost - just more affordable. But dont take my advice it's just a scenario!!
In terms of price hard to call - but look at the ones that have sold, and think you are close to the right sort of price - but someone will react when its close enough to their budget. Im' only guessing and spec makes a bit of difference for desirability.
It can take time to sell - if someone snapped it up the day you advertised it - was probably too cheap.

Exactly !! also £29k is alot to just have lying around so most people will be looking for a loan to cover that amount and a loan that size can take a while to arrange, one big positive you have is the car is ready today, where as a new order @ VW will take weeks / months to buildl-plate wrote:It can take time to sell - if someone snapped it up the day you advertised it - was probably too cheap.

Thanks for the advice, to be fair I am not desperate to sell it, which is why it's kind of a half assed adverts on here and piston heads, not the full autotrader treatment etc. We are making a decision about houses in june, so I might enjoy the car til then
.
I could probably afford both to be fair, but i want to be able to have some dispoable cash too, and not be scrimping around.

Without wishing to pry into your finances have you looked at selling it to a lease company and have them lease it back to you - if you own a fair chunk of the car you'd get some cash back, or if you have it mostly on HP, it could reduce the payments by quite a bit. Don't know if there are people that still do such a thing these days - there certainly were 10-12 years ago.
