No problems with mine. Occasionally when slowing up to stationary traffic it's a bit keen to shift down to 2nd meaning you get a lot of engine braking instead of a more relaxed 'coast' but it's not a big deal. And occasionally on really really cold mornings it's felt a tiny bit lumpy on gear changes until everything has warmed up a bit but nothing I'd be worried about.

I'd definitely buy DSG again.

Had a strange thing happen with mine in the first 3 months of ownership, but not since !!

Only happened when coasting to turn a corner for example, seemed to get stuck between two gears and not know if it was going up or down, then suddenly car would rev to the point of redlining and shoot forward, happened maybe 4 times in that 3 months but never again, so i don't know, can't explain it and certainly could not re-create it despite trying. Been fine since.

i actually commented that i like the way the gearbox slows the car down when u come off the accelerator it seems to do it better than alot of autos.

As a few of you mentioned when you are slowing down at the lights, the DSG seems to jolt slightly when it changes from 2nd to 1st. Guess its the norm from the posts from you peeps.

Only real DSG fault I had was a few weeks after purchasing the car. Drove to the destination, luckily parked up at the side of the road and was going to reverse into the driveway. Put it in R and nothing happened, the lights of the gears just flashed. So I just did the old fashioned turn off the ignition and turn it on again and bobs your uncle it was fine.

Think this issue happened just before the night I drove home and I was driving along and the gear box wouldn't change up. It would just rev, so took it back to dealer and found out there was some sort of wiring upgrade. That was all sorted albeit the bits didn't turn up on the day and had to go to the dealers twice to pick it up.

Since then its been fine (touchwood) :D

I am the opposite, i feel it impeeds the braking (when you brake), almost like its pulling you into the lights !!

Oh and good we seem to have gone back on topic

^ On that note, is there any downsides to knocking it into neutral to coast to the lights ?, not that i have done this.

Well back on your driving test i believe that would be an instant fail by coasting to the lights as its classed as your not in control of the vehicle. Mechanically it may even save you some MPG's i know there used to be the old school rumour that coasting down hill out of gear saves on fuel ?! Probably a load of "Knob"

Mine froze up once (DSG, not my knob). Coming out of reverse into D it only seemed to find N - and then R wouldn't work and I was stuck with no gears. Switched off, turned on again and all was fine. Other than that, yeah, in 2nd, when about to change down, or when coasting in traffic very slowly, it feels almost as if the car is engaing and then dis-engaging the clutch quite regularly causing a bit of jerking. Generally though it's been faultless.
