opinions please
Are vw taking the mick with me here or what?! They have had my new scirocco with them now for two weeks and yet still I have been unable to collect as he needs to tax the car and then have my hand controls put on (as im a wheelchair user). The hand controls will take a matter of an hour once they get the word and they r ready to go with them, but he is blaming my private plate transfer for the taxing of the car taking so long. Does anyone have any idea if this sounds right or does it sound like im being fobbed off?! Gettin annoyed now, i have been very patient with him.

Re: opinions please
We have a private plates on ours and it didn't take that long to get changed over. This is the second time we have moved our plates and both times it was just a matter of a few days.
Hope this helps

Re: opinions please
Result - sort of - still very slow - I picked mine up 4 days after it arrived at the dealer (it has a private plate, but I don't think that causes a delay on a new car - it never has with me*), and thought that was very slow - nearly every new car I've had before has been collected the same day it arrived at the dealer (*my wife's Mini was collected 4 hours after arriving at the dealer but the last working day before Christmas so they registered it without the private plate, gave me the correct plates, sorted out the plate transfer immediately after Christmas and phoned to say I could swap the plates over) - even allowing for the fitting of your controls, surely 2 or 3 days would have been ample?

Re: opinions please
Neither was mine and at collection, I was told it couldn't be done, despite the salesman sitting looking at a debadged Scirocco the other side of his desk! They're going to collect and return the car as I'm also a wheelchair user.De badging wasnt done as ordered
Re: opinions please
there's a new way to do private plate transfers now. Mine took a few days longer too. They have to go to specific DVLA offices now I think.
And then they can't get the tax disc until that is done of course (and if you've given them the insurance certificate already).
Of course it can also be down to how urgent the dealer / sales exec treats the whole sale.
