tyre pressure

Post by johno »

I'm running Germany Dunlops 235/40 R18 95Y on my 1.4 TSI and have had mixed messages about what PSI to inflate to.
Has anyone got any advice/knowledge about this.
Cheers Johno :)

It's either in the manual somewhere or it's usually on a sticker in the doorjam.

Knew it was there somewhere :). There's one in the door too but I've never looked at it.

based on RW1's post here (note the pic of the label is from Anakin's R which is a heavier car than your 1.4) he advices his says 33psi all round for 17", 18" & 19" on a 1.4 with half load which sounds about right

33psi all round sounds good. Thanks for that trix. I have heard of some making an ajustment for FWD vehicles ie less air in the rear.

i tend to put more at the front pair because the potholes around the black country tends to force out the air quicker than the rear pair.

I've found 32-33psi to be best for overall wear and feel on my car with 19's.

Since owning my car I've stuck to 33psi on all tyres - which it recommends inside the fuel filler flap. Seems to feel fine and they are all wearing nice and even.

Picked my car up yesterday so this morning I checked the tyres. Dealer had them at about 31/32psi all round and on my fuel cap lowest setting was 35psi all round for 2 passengers and 1 piece of luggage.

Filled them upto 33psi all round.

Thanks to all that have replied, looks like 33psi all round (if usually low load-1/2 people) is the way to go, cheers.
