Any Spare R's going? :) A tale of a Newbie dealer
Hi all,
After owning the 140 TDI Roc for almost a year now I have had a change of heart and have decided to start looking for an R. ( I do 12,000 miles a year so it doesn't make economical sense) but yeah I'd love to do those miles in R style.
I had a test drive in the £35k one with all the trimmings in Ruislip (a hefty 6000 miles on it though) and decided I love the car so much (the dealer took me on a 40 mile drive down the A40, he had been on the job 3 days and hence I knew a lot more about the cars on show than he did)
The 35k one had the alloys damaged, few scratches etc, but has all the trimmings (white, dsg, sunroof, sat nav, bluetooth etc). He knocked it down to 32290 and offered me £19,500 for my car although the method was crazy. (I owe finance of 10k on my car so he would have added it onto the 32k and somehow I would have lost 10k on my car, paying 42290!!) . If I had more time I would have told him how stupid he sounded but I had to rush out anyway.
So in retrospect, I give my car back to VW + 10k + 32k = a Roc R.
Anyone know of any Roc R's going? There are a few dotted on the official approved used cars but they seem underspecced or overpriced. A white/blue one with DSG, satnav, cruise control and sensors would suit me fine! Is it worth ordering brand new? The delivery costs/showroom tax etc would certainly add another £1.5k onto the car.
Oh well, so ends the story of the newbie dealer.

Huh? Think your numbers are a bit wrong. You owe £10k on your current roc, he offers £19,950 so you have "equity" of £9,950. The R is £32k so cost to change is roughly £22k. Or another £12k on top of your current finance of £10k another words.

Thats What I would have thought Chungster!, he showed me the finance agreement, and it was £620 for 60months with a deposit for £7k, My mouth dropped in shock.
44k!
I would have taken 12 on top of my Roc easily.

definitely sounds wrong acy1985, even to me who does not have a grasp of finance agreements
should be as chungster says:
he pays you 19500 for yours, 10K to finance to clear current agreement, 9500 to you which you pay towards the R, 32290 - 9500 = balance required to finance on new agreement.
but it seems to be:
he 'buys' your car off you for 19500 but gives you nothing, adds the 10k (outstanding finance on GT) to the new finance agreement, you pay off the full finance (42k) so then technically own the GT & the R but they have sold on the GT as second hand without actually paying a penny for it
go sort him out!

Damn newbie dealers, the car was pretty mint in the fact that it drove well and had loads of toys. 6000 miles is a lot for a demo car, and even more for a performance one like the R no?

pretty mint but with damaged alloys
depends how old the car is, if you said it arrived early march thats 1500miles/month ish so equates to roughly 2 or 3 test drives/day or if you have a salesman/exec taking it home at night as a demo & it being used for test drives during the day (more likely) quite easy to hit that mileage
still can't believe he screwed the finance figures up that much, numpty

Just go back and speak to manager. My dealer was a bit of a numpty on finance so I just went over his head to the manager.

Im thinking about it, but 35 for a Roc is (for me personally) a bit absurd. That's 3 series, TT, second hand porsche money surely.
All alloys were kerbed (he said they would get refurbed) and the infamous ratting could be heard from the boot. It needed a big clean too!

Sounds like a poor dealership in general!ayc1985 wrote:Im thinking about it, but 35 for a Roc is (for me personally) a bit absurd. That's 3 series, TT, second hand porsche money surely.

Very, why the heck wouldn't they get the car presentable before putting it on display? Not even cleaning it properly.. And with those alternatives, being a Cayman S or Boxter S..well I'm not sure my money would be on the Rocco.
Candy White 1.4 TSI 160 - DSG, ACC, 18" Interlagos (Euro Premium&Sport packs), Alu Door Sills, Current VCDS Mods Needle Sweep, Cornering Fog Lights, Alarm Chirp, Emergency Break Warning, Dension Gateway 5, sort of..
Re: Any Spare R's going? :) A tale of a Newbie dealer
I have to say I wouldn't buy this specific R. Sounds like it's been abused and not looked after.

Yeah definitely Chungster, for £35k as well I could order a brand new one with most of the options on it anyway. Needless to say I gotta wait until theres another white DSG for sale or buy one brand new. Looks like I have to wait a while!

Have you searched the dealer networks, or are you limited to just that group because of your financing?

I've tried the VW used car locator. I've also Pm'd business manager and theres diddly at the moment.
5 or 6 DSG R's around. Only 1 in white.

Re: Any Spare R's going? :) A tale of a Newbie dealer
the golf Rs i looked at were at Citygate in High Wycombe, i couldnt believe the stay of the alloys and hubs on a 6k car there, in reality mine looked better after 20 months and 35k
in reality if i went rocco it would be new, if golf i'd go demo

Hmmm yeah it might be worth buying new. Although will I get any discount on a new car? I thought all prices on the cataglogue are final and they can only throw in extras?
Re: Any Spare R's going? :) A tale of a Newbie dealer
You'll be very lucky to get any discount or extras thrown in such is the demand and delivery time on the R's at the mo.
Just have to be patient and sit it out if u really really want the car!

Looks like it, with the VAT rise in Jan it doesn't make sense to buy it outright I think. Theres 18 on autotrader at the moment, still a bit overpriced imo,
