red Interior lights

[topicalkeith]

By the front interior lights there are two small red lights that come on when the exterior lights are turned on, I assume this is some sort of ambient lighting. However they do not come on if the lights are set on auto, is there a way of changing this so they are on when the lights are set on auto?

I believe they are light level dependant keith, ie headlights are turned on or light levels are such that the headlights come on in auto setting = these lights are on.

fyi they are usually referred to as submarine lighting
